The Reliability Maintenance Engineers tools used to identify and reduce risk may include but not limited to the preliminary hazards analysis (PHA), failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA), maintainability information (MI), and root cause analysis (RCA).Major Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities



  • Works with Engineering department to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new and modified installations..
  • Participates in the development of design and installation specifications along with commissioning plans.
  • Participates in the development of criteria for and evaluation of equipment and technical MRO suppliers and technical maintenance service providers.
  • Participates in the final check out of new installations. This includes factory and site acceptance testing that will assure adherence to functional specifications.
  • Guides efforts to ensure reliability and maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, controls, and safety systems.
  • Professionally and systematically defines, designs, develops, monitors and refines an Asset Maintenance Plan that is Value-added preventive maintenance tasks and effective utilization of predictive and other non-destructive testing methodologies designed to identify and isolate inherent reliability problems
  • Provides input to a Risk Management Plan that will anticipate reliability-related, and non-reliability-related risks that could adversely impact plant operation.
  • Develops engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations. These problems include capacity, quality, cost or regulatory compliance issues.
  • Utilizes data analysis techniques such as Statistical Process Control, Reliability modeling and prediction, Six Sigma (6--) Methodology and (5) why, Root-cause and Root-Cause Failure Analysis (RCA, RCFA), and Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System (FRACAS)
  • Works with Production to perform analyses of assets including asset utilization, overall equipment effectiveness, remaining useful life and other parameters that define operating condition, reliability and costs of assets
  • Provides technical support to maintenance management and technical personnel.
  • Applies value analysis to repair/replace, repair/redesign, and make/buy decisions
  • Attend training as required
  • Encourage safety and housekeeping practices and lead by example
  • Promote and facilitate Open Door process and Fair Treatment
  • Participate in Continual Improvement activities
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Maintain sidewalks and premises as required
  • Actively applies lean initiatives including RCA and 5 why
  • Work with stakeholders on resolution of RCA

    Knowledge and Education



    • High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience preferred
    • Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering or similar discipline or equivalent experience.
    • Three to five (3-5) years of applied professional experience in a manufacturing environment.
    • Experience with the sciences of heat transfer and flow of solids, liquids and powder.
    • Experience with P&ID, Equipment Layout Drawings, grinding, conveying, mixing, forming, design optimization & troubleshooting.
    • Knowledge of WCM, EEM, Kaizens, Lean, TPM, Root Cause, PFMEA & DFMEA toolsets.
    • Excellent problem solving capabilities and the ability to work independently on assigned tasks.
    • Flexible and open-minded with good written and oral communication.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and MS Project.

    • Preferred Qualifications:



      • Ability to understand operating principles of our major process equipment (detail level, grade dependent).
      • Project cost estimating, competitive bidding, critical path scheduling, resource funding, and capital funding.
      • Application of combustion analysis, mass & energy balance, machine & fluid dynamics.
      • Minor structural, building design improvements.
      • PM technologies (vibration analysis, infrared thermography, oil analysis, ultrasonic) and AutoCAD LT.





        Training Requirements



        • Technical training in the following areas



          • Hydraulic/pneumatic system maintenance and repair
          • Mechanical power transmission maintenance and repair
          • Facilities Maintenance & Past PM experience

            • Proven track record of solid engineering projects and success rate with projects
            • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and changing deadlines and competing objectives

            • Self-motivated and time management skills
            • Solid interpersonal and communication skills
            • Strong computer skills (MS Office and CMS)
            • Ability to work with extended hours as necessary to complete work assignments
            • Able to demonstrate understanding of reading technical manuals
            • Able to work well with others; build and maintain positive employee relations
            • Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from leaders, team members, suppliers and customers
            • Able to maintain confidentiality, and use discretion and tact
            • Able to manage and schedule multiple priorities and meet deadlines
            • Able to work flexible hours and overtime to be available to three (3) shifts
            • Able to use computer and software as required
            • Able to work to blueprints and sketches
            • Able to lift 75 pounds
            • Able to work at heights of 40 to 60 feet and in confined spaces
            • Must be able to understand written instructions
