Summary:
The Chemist and Food Safety Chemist is responsible for performing
all routine laboratory analyses within the Company's Analytical
Laboratory. With minimal direction from the Laboratory Manager, the
Chemist will operate and maintain complex analytical
instrumentation, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and
may supervise laboratory technicians and junior chemists. The role
requires strong technical proficiency, excellent work ethic, and a
proactive approach to problem solving and quality assurance in food
safety testing.
Key Responsibilities:
Analytical Instrumentation (30%)
Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot analytical equipment including
GC/MS, GC/MS/MS, LC/MS/MS, LC/QTOF, and ICP/MS. Troubleshoot
analytical methods, both procedural and instrumental. Ensure
compliance with ISO accreditation.
Sample Analysis (20%)
Identify and quantify components of interest and unknowns with
accuracy and precision.
Proficiency Testing (15%)
Participate in analytical proficiency programs and investigate
corrective actions as required. Ensure adherence to ISO
accreditation standards.
Method Development (15%)
Stay current with new and developing technologies. Design and
validate additional analytical procedures.
Standard Reference Solutions (10%)
Validate and maintain multi-level standard reference solutions.
Compliance (10%)
Ensure compliance with all internal plants, corporate, local,
state, and federal regulatory standards.
Additional Responsibilities:
Demonstrate strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Exhibit excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation
abilities.
Show a high degree of ownership, accountability, and passion for
end results.
Utilize knowledge in multiresidue pesticide methodology, heavy
metals testing, allergen testing by ELISA, and testing for
acrylamide and capsaicin.
Manage key projects such as LIMS (Labware), proficiency testing
programs, plant lab assessments, and A2LA ISO accreditation.
May supervise and schedule daily work of laboratory technicians,
ensuring priority sample management and turnaround timelines.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in chemistry, Forensic Science, or a
related discipline.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in a relevant laboratory
setting.
Technical Proficiency: GC/MS, GC/MS/MS, LC/MS/MS, LC/QTOF,
ICP/MS.
Pay Transparency: The typical base pay for this role across the
U.S. is: $36.00 - $36.00/hr. Final offer amounts, within the base
pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your
relevant skills, education and experience and the benefits package
you select. Full-time employees are eligible to select from
