SUMMARY: The Maintenance Technician maintains, tests and repairs electrical/electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, compressed air, and pneumatic systems and components, welding and machining a plus. Applies knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment to operation. Provides skilled mechanical and electrical/electronic support to all areas of manufacturing in our corrugated manufacturing plant. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.) --- Troubleshoots and repairs mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical/electronic equipment including but not limited to numeric controls, power supplies, drives, gauges and test equipment. --- Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic and mechanical theories and principles, writing specifications, local and national electrical codes, properties of various materials, and principles of operation and application of electronic equipment. --- Installs, starts up and shuts down equipment in accordance with company safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown in line with OSHA requirements. --- Advises operators and line mechanics of operation procedures and requirements for working safely with electrical/electronic and mechanical equipment and components. --- Informs appropriate management and line mechanics of potential electrical/mechanical problems and inherent dangers involved. --- Performs preventative maintenance functions as directed. Maintains company-required performance and maintenance records for identified equipment. --- Assists maintenance personnel with technical troubleshooting. --- Assists and trains other maintenance and/or other technical level employees. --- Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: (The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required to perform this job.) Education and Experience Requirements: High School diploma or general education degree (GED) *Prefer Corrugate experience KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: --- Understanding and demonstrating the behavior that the safety of yourself and other coworkers is paramount and is the #1 priority here at WestRock. --- Must have been trained in basic electrical and mechanical safety. --- Minimum 2 years' experience in electrical component repair. Required for 3rd shift. --- Must be able to read and draw schematics. --- Proven experience in the mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic fields are required and the ability to demonstrate high proficiency in these areas. --- A thorough knowledge of electrical/electronic components and equipment including the use of special instruments for diagnostic purposes. --- Must have intermediate computer skills. --- High degree of precision working with minimum tolerances required. Ability to climb in/on overhead structures, to work beneath machines and in close quarters performing analysis and repair work. --- Two-year technical degree or accredited apprenticeship program or the equivalent in a technical field is preferred. --- Must be able to work overtime as needed; significant overtime may be required during busy periods. --- Ability to lift, push or pull 50 lbs., navigate stairs, stand, walk, bend, and kneel through the entire shift. --- Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen. --- Must be able to maintain good attendance. --- Demonstrate positive interpersonal, written and oral communication skills. --- Must be able to perform all the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodation.
