Role Summary To provide maintenance support to all other departments to ensure product quality, customer schedules and projects are completed timely while ensuring the safety of the Maintenance team, and those members that interact with the Maintenance team, in the production environment. Overall management of the Maintenance Department.

Key Responsibilities Responsible and accountable for all three shifts of maintenance activities
Manage all facility activities and personnel reporting to this position
Maintain effective communication and coordination with all internal customers, plant management and team members; maintain positive team member relations; listen to issues and concerns and respond (C48) within 48 hours
Follow the principles of the Magna Employee Charter
Promote and practice "safety first" by immediately addressing any hazards, defective equipment or unsafe conditions within the department, manufacturing floor and work stations
Address unsafe performance of team members either through training or progressive discipline as appropriate
Ensure that all training, licenses, reports and documentation that is required for LOTO, Fall, Crane, Boom, 5s, Fire Exit, Waste, PPW, Confined spaces, Forklift, Incident Reports and Blood Borne are being completed and maintained
Ensure all Maintenance team members attend required safety and shift communication on a daily and weekly basis to ensure all safety related training and communication is received in a timely manner
Support all accident incident investigations in the plant as needed, and ensure all such investigations involving a member of the maintenance team are completed in full and turned into the HSE team within 24 hours of the incident
Oversee and direct Maintenance team members on all three shifts in safe, quality-minded and productive manner with a sense of urgency to attain production priorities as scheduled
Maintain effective department communications through a prioritized work list, plant meetings, daily meetings, and weekly department meetings
Maintain and continuously improve department organization and housekeeping standards
Facilitate natural cross functional work teams by rotating team members through all areas of plant
Determine, achieve and improve productivity, quality, environmental, health and safety goals
Support new program launches
Provide motivation and a results-oriented environment
Review all major department projects from start to finish to insure proper techniques are being used
Report on status of departmental projects as required
Conduct performance evaluations of Maintenance staff as specified by company goals
Ensure all team member documentation is maintained
Sign all departmental purchase orders to insure items are needed and best quality for least cost
Interface with maintenance vendors and material suppliers to insure purchase of proper materials
Utilize lessons-learned philosophy in continuous improvement activities
Complete preventive maintenance program on time
Create and maintain a predictive maintenance program and maintain preventative maintenance and work orders as needed.
Perform downtime analysis on all major breakdowns
Complete correspondence, forms and reports in Microsoft Office and other required programs
Handle confidential information on a regular basis
Encourage safety and housekeeping practices and lead by example
Promote and facilitate Open Door Process without reprisal, effective communication and Fair Treatment
Participate in Continual Improvement activities
Adhere to customer requirements, Business Operating System and company policies
Perform other duties as assigned

Education, Skills and Experience Required

High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience preferred
Must have excellent human management skills, be decisive and always setting a good example
Must have a positive attitude
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent equipment diagnostic skills
Journeyman status preferred
Knowledge of departmental processes and procedures to include:
Hydraulic and pneumatic systems
Mechanical power transmission
Combustion gas train
HVAC, Electrical systems and electronics
Gas, MIG and TIG welding
Robotics
Schematics and blueprint reading
OSHA regulations and National Electrical Code
Preventive Maintenance procedures
DOL Apprenticeship program
Additional Information Work Environment

Includes office and manufacturing plant
Must be able to perform all essential functions as appropriate on the plant floor, in meetings, and with employees of all departments, management, customers and suppliers
Provide support for three shifts and weekend production schedule
Flexible hours and able to work additional hours as required
Must be available for international business travel as necessary
The plant floor is characterized by temperature extremes, loud noise and considerable tow motor traffic
Handle multiple priorities and able to meet deadlines
