* DutiesHelp Duties SummarySome outstanding VA benefits include:* Outpatient positions - limited weekend/after hour clinics* Malpractice protection covered by the Federal Government* Recruitment incentive authorized* Federal Employees Retirement System (FERS).* Thrift Savings Plan (TSP), Government version of 401K Plan* Market pay reviewed biennially for increase* Annual performance based pay bonus up to $15,000 or 7.5% of pay* Up to 26 days paid annual vacation, 13 days sick leave* 10 paid Federal holidaysLearn more about this agencyResponsibilitiesThe incumbent for this position may be eligible to apply for the Education Debt Reduction ProgramThe position is for a board eligible, board certified Internal Medicine or Family Medicine Physician who will be responsible for delivery of primary care to patients enrolled at the Battle Creek VA Medical Center or one of its Community Based Outpatient Clinics including Wyoming, MI.* The provider will manage scheduled and unscheduled patients in the outpatient clinic setting.* The primary care provider is an integral member of the PACT teamlet and is expected to work closely and coordinate patient care with other PACT teamlet members (Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant/Social worker), including nursing and clerical staff. Primary care physicians will participate in daily huddles with other teamlet staff and participate in primary care systems redesign projects.* A primary care provider in the outpatient setting is assigned a panel of patients to manage under PCMM guidelines; recommended panel size at the division level is calculated based on patient complexity, support staff and room availability. Each provider's panel size is specific to their practice and setting.* Primary Care Physicians may have responsibility for supervision of or collaboration with primary care mid-level providers. Physicians are expected to provide clinical oversight and to participate in peer review of other primary care providers through periodic chart reviews.* Primary care physicians may be responsible for supervision, education and evaluation of residents and medical students in the outpatient primary care setting, as assigned.* Primary care physicians will act as surrogates for absent primary care providers when needed, to include review of CPRS view alerts.* Primary care physicians will regularly attend primary care staff meetings, departmental meetings and medical staff meetings.* Typical work hours are Monday to Friday 8-4.30 PM, and a full time provider is required to work a minimum of 80 hours per pay period. Duties may include evening working hours.* Timely documentation (notes and encounter forms) is necessary in all areas in accordance with facility policy. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed.* Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.* Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification.* Proficiency in spoken and written English.* Physical requirements outlined below.Preferred Experience: "Preferred" board certification in Internal or Family Medicine.Reference: VA Regulations, specifically VA Handbook 5005, Part II, Appendix G-2 Physician Qualification Standard.
