Summary of Responsibilities

To provide technical and administrative assistance to the Materials & Purchasing Department. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, ability and essential duties required to successfully perform this job. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Purchasing Manager and Logistics Department to ensure smooth and timely flow of raw materials and work in process to meet customer shipping requirements
  • Maintain effective communication to applicable departments on all shifts pertaining to schedules
  • Perform weekly releases, forecasts and perform analyses of customer demand and supplier requirements
  • Prepare schedules to establish sequence and lead time of each operation to meet shipping dates according to sales forecasts or customer orders
  • Exercise high degree of independent decision making regarding organizing and performing work to meet customer requirements
  • Responsible for optimum scheduling of production to meet demand, forecasting future needs, resolving internal and external problems, and communicating effectively with both customers and suppliers
  • Identify and resolve material supply issues to ensure support of demand requirements
  • Initiate and complete root cause and corrective action of recurring problems
  • Monitor and maintain planning policy and parameters for correct mix and volume
  • Monitor and initiate disposition of excess and obsolete inventory
  • Analyze releases to determine production schedules and estimates through CMS
  • Update part release requirement data base from customer releases
  • Maintain and operate all divisional electronic data interchange (EDI) systems related to supplier and customer communications
  • Maintain supplier rating system per customer requirements and Business Operating System
  • Monitors production against schedule and changes, expedite production to meet shipments as required
  • Support 100% on-time delivery to the customer and avoid all premium freight charges when possible
  • Update and monitor the needed master data requirements to support inventory flow and efficiencies. (ie, safety stock, min/max, lead time, etc.)
  • Reviews scheduling/material process sheets on all production, production history for planning purposes and item master, BOM, etc. as require
  • Weekend overtime calculation
  • Determine manufacturing manpower needs weekly
  • Perform other duties as assigned


  • Able to demonstrate understanding of how job performance affects product quality and customer satisfaction
  • Able to prepare, read and interpret written reports, business correspondence, instructions, procedures and guidelines
  • Able to effectively present information and respond to questions from leaders, team members, suppliers and customers
  • Able to maintain confidentiality, and use discretion and tact
  • Able to work well with others; build and maintain positive employee relations
  • Able to manage and schedule multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Able to work flexible hours supporting three (3) shifts
  • Able to calculate figures and amounts
  • Excellent understanding of personal computers and MS Office, CMS and customer supplied software
  • Must be able to understand written instructions

Education and Experience Required

  • Associate Degree or 10+ years of experience as a Master Scheduler required
  • Experience in the automotive industry required
  • Experience in a material planner role
  • Candidate should have in-depth knowledge of MRP/ERP Systems, Material flow process, Lean, Continuous Improvement and excellent organizational skills.
  • Prior demonstrated experience using personal computers in a work environment including Excel and Word software

Work Environment

  • Includes office and manufacturing plant
  • Must be able to perform all essential functions as appropriate on the plant floor, in meetings, and with employees of all departments, management, customers and suppliers
  • Provide support for three shifts and weekend production schedule
  • Flexible hours and able to work additional hours as required
