Description Job Summary: The shipping & receiving personnel manage all incoming and outgoing shipments. Much of their work utilizes the MRP computer system. They work directly with many people from around the plant, such as material handlers and purchasing agents, as well as truck drivers and dealers. Key Responsibilities: Adheres to all safety policies and procedures Follows all pre-established procedures and guidelines to ensure consistency of work Uses hand truck, pallet jack, and various hand tools Completes all job duties within given time constraints Performs other duties as assigned Cross-trains between several different jobs Completes various activities, such as accepting deliveries and shipments, checking for order accuracy against the packing slips, receiving purchase orders in the computer system, printing part orders, transferring inventory, utilizing the last box function, preparing items to be shipped, entering shipments into the computer system, and working with dealers when they pick up orders Cleans and maintains work area Pursues continuous improvement to improve efficiency of job duties and work flow Qualifications High school diploma or GED Computer skills Attention to detail Excellent problem solving skills Good verbal and written communication skills Needs good visual judgment to notice errors and/or defects Ability to accurately read a tape measure Ability to follow verbal and written instructions Ability to work in a fast paced, multifunctional team oriented work environment Ability to work variable hours with short notice (up to 50 hrs. per week) Ability to use hand tools and some power tools to construct shipping supports and crates Physical Requirements and Environment Must be physically capable of safely lifting a minimum of 60 lbs. without assistance, pushing/pulling 150-300 lb. items with the use of hand trucks or pallet jacks some items are large and/or awkward Involves standing, bending, and lifting for long periods as required Requires repetitive movement Includes and noise levels that are distracting and/or uncomfortable Requires wearing personal protective equipment Involves extensive walking and exposure to all weather conditions Requires ability to hear and respond to radio communications Requires visual acuity for accurately receiving parts
