MEDICAL ASSISTANT/EMERGENCY MEDICAL TECHNICIAN

SUMMARY
Works collaboratively with the team to triage customers at entry
point to the Urgent Care Center, including but not limited to:
greeting customers at the door, assisting with obtaining medical
history, triage to necessary levels of care, coordinating
services.
Responsibilities
- Performs activities essential to maintaining an organized
office and ensuring that operations run smoothly and
efficiently.
- Ensures compliance with all infection control and OSHA
regulations and legal standards pertaining to family practice
settings.
- Demonstrates ability to communicate with individuals of varying
populations (pediatric, geriatric) as well as those with visual,
hearing, and speech impairments.
- Utilizes knowledge and understanding of basic medical coding,
medical terminology, healthcare delivery systems, medical assistant
lab skills, medical office management/procedures, medical law and
ethics, pharmacology and record information management
systems.
- Assists in a variety of administrative and clinical tasks
within the medical setting under supervision, including but not
limited to: vitals, medication reconciliation, coordination of
care, and assisting with linking to necessary services.
Qualifications
- Medical Assistant Certification or Registration or Emergency
Medical Technician Certification is required. Must submit evidence
of application and successful completion of exam requirements to
obtain the status of either Certified Medical Assistant (CMA),
Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or Emergency Medical Technician
(EMT). Continued employment beyond probationary period is
contingent upon receipt and ongoing maintenance of this
certification.
- Two years of progressively more responsible experience in
providing medical assistant services within a family practice
setting under the supervision of a fully licensed physician and
office administrator preferred.
- Two years of experience in medical billing and medical record
management activities preferred.
- Two years of experience in utilizing ICD-9 and CPT-4 coding
preferred.
- Specialized training, skills and abilities: Lived experiences
with behavioral health issues are desired.
Work Detail
- Beginning pay range is $15.20 - $21.63 per hour depending on
experience
- The Urgent Care Center is open 24/7, and this role will have
varied shifts, including days, nights, weekends and
holidays.
