Job Description:
A-Line Staffing--is recruiting for a full time- contract-1099
Inpatient Psychiatrist--in Battle Creek, MI. They are offering a
generous compensation as a 1099 - Independent Contractor. Inpatient
Psychiatrist Full time, On-site - Contract Battle Creek, MI Hourly
rate - Negotiable Paid malpractice insurance Health Insurance
Qualifications: The Candidate must meet the following requirements:
License:--Contract physician assigned to perform the services
covered by this contract shall have a current license to practice
medicine in Michigan. All licenses held by the candidate shall be
full and unrestricted licenses. Contract physician(s) who have
current, full and unrestricted licenses in one or more states, but
who have, or ever had, a license restricted, suspended, revoked,
voluntarily revoked, voluntarily surrendered pending action or
denied upon application will not be considered for the purposes of
this contract. Board Certification:--the candidate shall be board
certified or board eligible in psychiatry and be currently
certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalency. All
continuing education courses required for maintaining certification
shall be kept up to date at all times. Documentation verifying
current certification shall be provided to company on an annual
basis for each year of contract performance. VETPRO: Registration
into the companies credentialing software is required. Technical
Proficiency:--The candidate shall be technically proficient in the
skills necessary to fulfill the government's requirements,
including the ability to speak, understand, read and write English
fluently. Contractor shall provide documents upon request by the
company to verify current and ongoing competency, skills,
certification and/or licensure related to the provision of care,
treatment and/or services performed. Contractor shall provide
verifiable evidence of all educational and training experiences
including any gaps in educational and shall be responsible for
abiding by the Facility's Medical Staff By-Laws, rules, and
regulations (referenced herein) that govern medical staff behavior.
Continuing Medical Education (CME)/ Certified Education Unit (CEU)
Requirements:--The candidate shall provide copies of current CMEs
to company upon request. The candidate registered or certified by
national/medical associations shall continue to meet the minimum
standards for CME to remain current. Training:. All contracted
providers shall complete applicable TMS modules, training and
orientation prior to providing any services at cpmpany. HOURS OF
OPERATION/SCHEDULING: - Business Hours: Monday through Friday 8:00
am to 4:30pm - Work Schedule:--8:00am to 4:30pm, and extended hours
on Wednesday evening and Saturday's once every six weeks.
Contracted provides shall work efficiently to complete all tasks
prior whenever possible, prior to the end of the normal eight-hour
workday. However, the candidate is expected to remain on duty until
the last patient has been seen. Approval for work beyond end of
normal workday that shall result in an overtime charge shall be
approved by the Chief, Psychiatry Service or designee PRIOR to
performing the work unless the work involves a medical emergency.
Methods to obtain approval can be as simple as sending a skype/IM
message, email, or phone call and can be done at any point up to
4:30pm. - Off-hours Coverage: shall enter into an equal rotation
with existing employee psychiatrists for on call coverage. - APOD
Duties:--Provide Psychiatry coverage to the Inpatient Mental Health
Unit, Psychiatric consultation to the Medical Center, evaluate
patients in need of mental health care in the Urgent Care setting,
and process needs including possible admissions, respond to
Psychiatric emergencies and provide triage reviews of outside
facilities requesting transfer to Battle Creek Mental Health
Inpatient Mental Health unit. - Frequency of APOD Duties:--Up to
three (3) days monthly - weekdays and up to 1 weekend monthly. -
Weekdays:--APOD duties on weekdays include providing in-house
services from 7am to 6pm. After 6pm, the APOD is relieved of
in-house duties and transitioned to back-up pager call to the POD
and is not required to work in-house unless in the event of an
unforeseen critical staff shortages, then APOD duties extend to
stay overnight in-house until 7am the following day. -
Weekends:--APOD duties on weekends include being available by pager
the entirety of the shift (Saturday/Sunday 7am-7am). The duties
extend to provide in-house coverage in the event of critical
shortages, APOD duties extend to stay overnight in-house until 8am
the following day. - Triage Duties:--Provide Psychiatric
review/clinical review of outside hospitals/Emergency Room's
requests for possible admission to Inpatient Mental Health.
RESPONSIBILITIES:? Standards of Care:--The candidate's care shall
cover the range of Psychiatry services as would be provided in a
state-of-the-art medical treatment facility and the standard of
care shall be of a quality, meeting or exceeding currently
recognized national standards as established by: ? Direct Patient
Care:--100% of the time involved in direct patient care, which
includes team meetings/huddles, mandatory training, appropriate
QA/QI documents, etc. ? Scope of Care:--shall be responsible for
providing Psychiatry care and includes: Physical Assessment,
Psychiatric Evaluations and Mental Status Exams, Psychotherapy,
Pharmacotherapy, Consultation, Clinical Supervision, General
Medical Condition Care, Group Psychotherapy, Behavior Therapy,
Family Therapy, Treatment Team meetings, Discharge Planning,
referring patients to specialty care, histories and physicals,
order prescriptions, labs, x-rays, and other pertinent tests,
completes documentation requirements in a timely manner as per
policy, completion of consults on other inpatient locations at the
facility, and occasionally evaluates outpatients for medication.
Contracted psychiatrists shall have an active and valid DEA license
and shall have the ability to prescribe Buprenorphine and
Clozapine. ? QA/QI Documentation:--shall complete the appropriate
QM/PI documentation pertaining to all procedures, complications and
outcome of examinations. ? Patient Safety Compliance and
Reporting:--shall follow all established patient safety and
infection control standards of care and shall make every effort to
prevent medication errors, falls, and patient injury caused by acts
of commission or omission in the delivery of care. All events
related to patient injury, medication errors, and other breeches of
patient safety shall be reported to the Safety Policy. As soon as
practicable (but within 24 hours) Contractors shall notify COR of
incident and submit to the COR the Patient Safety Report, following
up with COR as required or requested. ? Provide
inpatient/outpatient, Urgent Care, APOD, psychiatric services to
new and established patients.--In general, the inpatient care
includes acute, rehabilitative and long-term treatment as well as
comprehensive psychiatric services to eligible patients and
outpatient care diagnosis mental disorders, medication evaluation
and management, conducts psychiatric assessments, treats mental
disorders through a variety of modalities and provides adjunctive
intervention for treatment of medical disorders. ? See
approximately 10-13 scheduled established outpatients per day--and
all unscheduled patients that walk-in if they are assigned to the
cohort of patients the contract physician is covering. A lighter
schedule is permitted for the first week. After that, the contract
physician shall be expected to get up to speed and keep pace within
an 8-hour workday. New patient appointments are 60-minutes and
established patients are 30-minutes. Contract physician shall have
the patients identify themselves by stating their name and social
security number prior to initiating treatment. ? See approximately
20-25 patients per day for inpatient.--A lighter schedule is
permitted for the first week. After that the contract physician
shall be expected to get up to speed and keep pace within an 8-
hour workday. ? Contract physician shall keyboard a pertinent
progress note into the Electronic Health Record (EHR) at the time
of each outpatient visit or inpatient visit. This progress note
shall generally include the following elements: Patient's chief
complaint and/or the purpose of the visit; Pertinent physical
findings; Studies ordered (laboratory, radiology, etc.);
Provisional or confirmed diagnosis; Therapies administered; and
Disposition of the patient at the end of the visit, recommendations
for follow-up care, and instructions given to the patient or
significant other. Contractor shall provide information about
adherence with prescribed medications and about side effects and
patient-reported outcomes of treatment. ? The Medical Support
Assistants shall assist the physician with administrative functions
not requiring professional decisions. The duties consist of
scheduling, canceling, re-scheduling patient's appointment and/or
consults; entering no-show information; monitoring the electronic
wait list; preparing for clinic visits; monitoring both inpatient
and outpatient appointments for areas of responsibility; ensuring
encounter forms are completed in order to obtain appropriate
workload credit; verifying and updating demographics and insurance
information. ? Contract physician shall address the clinical
reminders due at the time of each outpatient visit or inpatient
visit, which support the clinical practice guidelines in prevention
and chronic disease management as outlined by the company. The
clinical reminder notes shall be utilized as the documentation
tool. ? Contract physician shall electronically enter all doctor's
orders, consultation referrals, and requests for x-rays and lab
work using EHR. Approved order sets shall be used, as appropriate.
? Contract physician shall electronically complete an encounter
form on each patient seen; listing the diagnosis for the visit and
all procedures performed based on current company requirements. ?
Contract physician shall address all telephone calls from patients
assigned to the cohort of patients the contract physician is
covering within one (1) workday. A pertinent progress note shall be
entered into the EHR. Failed attempts to contact the patient shall
also be documented. ? When the Contract physician is covering the
mental health or residential rehabilitation and treatment facility
(RRTP), Urgent Care, APOD, an inpatient ward/residential nursing
staff contacts the Contract physician regarding a patient, it shall
be the Contract physician's responsibility to determine whether the
patient needs to be seen or not. RRTP essential duties of a
contract psychiatrist covering for RTTP include ensuring the
safety, medication management, and oversight of mental health needs
of Veterans within in the RRTP program. Contract physician shall
enter a EHR progress note that includes specifically what the RN
reported regarding the patient, if orders were entered without
seeing the patient or if the Contract physician is going to be
delayed seeing the patient. In general, patients shall be seen by
Contract physician when requested by a mental health or residential
ward Nurse. ? When covering the inpatient mental health or
residential ward, the Contract physician shall see every patient
who has a fall and/or injury and document the history, physical
findings, and the care that was given. If an incident report was
generated the Contract physician shall complete all aspects of the
incident report and the severity level. ? Chief of Psychiatry
Service or designee shall provide orientation to contract physician
related to all responsibilities during their tour of duty. Consider
adding a statement that the Chief of Psychiatry Services or
designee shall also be responsible for ensuring that the contract
physician is aware of company requirements for screening for mental
health conditions and for the risk of suicide and for the
evaluation of positive screens, as well as requirements related to
other programs for the prevention of suicide and opioid overdoses.
? The Contract physician shall be responsible for the examination
and disposition of all patients presenting for care, including
established outpatient and patients who walk-in for the first time
and those referred by other facilities, private physicians or
private hospitals. The Contract physician has the authority to
admit, treat, discharge or refer patients in accordance with
his/her clinical privileges. ? Inpatient Mental Health, Urgent
Care, or Residential Ward Contract physician shall complete history
and physical (H&P) examination including mental status
examination and of medication reconciliation on all new admissions
within 24-hours of admission or before end of their tour of duty,
if less than 24 hours. ? Initial treatment plan of care shall be
developed in collaboration with interdisciplinary treatment team,
the patient, the families of the patient, and the patient guardian
where applicable and documented within the H&P. ? Inpatient
Mental Health or Residential ward Contract Physician shall complete
discharge summaries on patients admitted and discharged over a
