Peer Support Specialist/Recovery Coach
Full-time & Part-Time
Starting Pay: $15.20-$21.63

- +$2.00/hour rate increase-Hours worked on Saturday's and
Sunday's from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. (First Step-Psychiatric Urgent Care
only)
- + $3.00/hour rate increase.-Hours worked Monday through Sunday
from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m. (First Step-Psychiatric Urgent Care
only)

What you would be doing...
- Be as part of a multi-disciplinary team, working with medical
and behavioral health professionals to provide services in
partnership with customers served for the specific purpose of
achieving increased wellness, recovery, community
inclusion/participation, independence and productivity.
- Provide services and supports that promote mental health
recovery through teaching and role modeling with customers in
different Summit Pointe programs
- Utilizing your own unique recovery story
- Provides assistance and empowerment to customer in managing,
scheduling and linking to appointments when needed (Agency vehicles
are available for use), information and strategies to help
customers with mental health, trauma, substance abuse and/or
chronic medical conditions to access health care services and
improve the customers' quality of life.
- Position requires maintaining confidentiality and privacy
within MDHHS, state and federal guidelines. Utilizes knowledge of
CARF, CMS, MDHHS and Managed Care standards. Performs other duties
as required.
- Become knowledgeable about and actively support 1)culturally
competent, recovery-based practices; 2)person-centered planning as
a shared decision making process with the individual, who defines
his/her own life goals and is assisted in developing a unique path
toward those goals; and 3)a trauma informed culture to aid
individuals in their recovery process.
Where and When you would be doing this...
- Services within customers' homes, within the community setting,
at a Summit Pointe clinic locations (Calhoun County)
- May be required to work variable hours/shifts (shifts of 1st
and variable/flex schedule, or overnights and/or weekends)
- First Step - Psychiatric Urgent Care will require overnight
and/or weekend hours. There will be a stipend/shift differential
associated with each of these roles if working on site in the
urgent care center.
Do you have...
- Lived Experience as a current or past recipient of mental
health services with diagnosis having been more than one year ago
with a willingness to share your story
- A High School Diploma or GED required.
- Willingness and ability to become Certified through Michigan's
Peer Specialist Training and Certification Program (PSTC) preferred
OR Certified through Michigan's Peer Recovery Coach Training using
the CCAR model is required as well as 2-4 years clean
time/sobriety. This certification will be provided by Summit Pointe
in conjunction with a credentialed agency upon hire if not already
completed.
- Minimally, must be able to meet PSTC criteria to obtain Peer
Support Specialist Certification.
- A valid Michigan Driver's License with an acceptable driving
record.
- Ability to demonstrate awareness, sensitivity, knowledge, and
use of appropriate approaches, skills and techniques that reflect
an understanding of the social, cultural and economic diversity of
the target population served by Summit Pointe.
- Ability to tolerate: Possible exposure to health risks
(violence and infectious diseases); and sometimes lifts, carries,
or moves objects up to 25 lbs
