Visuals Journalist The Battle Creek Enquirer/battlecreekenquirer.com, part of the USA TODAY NETWORK, seeks an energetic, self-sufficient visuals journalist to join our team. Must be a quick learner and possess social media savvy and a passion for storytelling. A qualified candidate should demonstrate high command of techniques in both still photography and videography, sophisticated craftsmanship and a passion for community engagement. Responsibilities: Photograph and edit daily assignments, including but not limited to breaking news, features and sports. Create photo galleries. Write photo captions, gallery headlines, video lead-ins, etc. with accuracy and according to AP stye. Produce photo-driven stories, including writing the copy to accompany it. Produce videos and stream live videos for battlecreekenquirer.com and social media platforms, as well as create polished, longer-term video projects. Use social media, particularly Instagram, to share your work and connect with our audience. Collaborate with other content creators and producers to enhance the experience for audiences on all platforms. Knowledge and skills: Exceptional core visual journalism skills (reporting, photography and videography).Proficiency using photo and video editing software, including Photoshop, Photo Mechanic, Adobe Premiere or similar video editing software. Experience with shooting and editing on an iPhone. Ability to write accurate, detailed captions. Understanding of social media and how to engage audiences on digital platforms. Strong communication skills and ability to get along with diverse personalities. Ability to multi-task and excel under intense deadline pressure, using time efficiently in a 24-hour newsroom. Skilled at collaborating within a cross-functional environment and at adapting in a rapidly changing industry.Requirements: Bachelor's or master's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, photography or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Daily journalism experience preferred This role requires a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and the minimum liability insurance required by state law.
