Job Description Job Description About the Role: Seeking a
detail-oriented Patient Access Representative . This position
requires experience in accurately validating patient demographics,
verifying insurance coverage, and securing necessary authorizations
for medical procedures to ensure financial clearance. The ideal
candidate will have a strong understanding of Cerner , VOB
processes , and pre-certification coordination from start to
finish. Type : Full Time Location : On-site in Kalamazoo, MI Shift
: Monday - Friday 9:00AM - 5:30PM Pay : $16 - 19.33/hr
Qualifications: Experience : 3 years in insurance verification,
authorizations, or full-cycle patient access experience. Skills : 1
year of experience investigating insurance eligibility, reviewing
out-of-pocket costs, and coordinating with physician offices for
medical necessity. Recency : Experience needs to be at least within
the last 2 years. Education : High school diploma or equivalent
(Associate's degree in a related field is a plus). Technical Skills
: Proficiency in medical billing/scheduling software ( Cerner ,
Pathways Healthcare Scheduling , Experian ), EHR systems, and
Microsoft Excel. Knowledge : Strong understanding of ICD-10/CPT
codes , EOBs , insurance networks (Medicare/Medicaid/Commercial),
and the pre-certification process. Key Responsibilities: Verify and
update patient demographic and insurance information to ensure
accuracy in the Cerner database. Coordinate insurance verification
and obtain detailed Verification of Benefits (VOB) , including
co-pays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket maximums. Secure and
document authorizations/pre-certifications for ancillary, surgical,
and outpatient testing. Validate medical necessity using the
Medical Necessity Checker and audit Medicare Secondary Payer (MSP)
questionnaires. Collaborate with physician offices and scheduling
teams to resolve incomplete authorizations and reschedule
procedures as needed. Calculate and communicate patient financial
responsibilities and refer patients to Financial Counselors when
necessary. Maintain accurate worklists and provide professional
communication in accordance with standards. For California
